These are the very real, yet mostly imperceptible frontiers of the time. From Atomic radiation, to visible light, to radar, television bandwidth, up to "alternating current for light & power". This is a chart of some of the domains that exist beyond our senses but form and contain our world, and would be the focus of many 20th century developments. Condition is good with some marginal repaired tears and minor chipping. Overall size is approximately 29 x 41.5 (inches)

  • (Thematic) The Radiant Energy Spectrum, Caverly - Welch, 1952,
In 1846, Michael Faraday gave one of his great lectures on electricity and magnetism, and finished up a bit early. He opened the floor for questions and discussion, and in chatting, he postulated that these electric and magnetic fields that he spoke on, these fields were not only real, but quite literally the only things we've seen. Matter of fact, light itself, he supposed, was just ripples in the electro-magnetic field that we can experience. It would take decades more of study and confirmation by great minds like Hertz and Maxwell to confirm, that this hunch was indeed true. This would be a powerful moment for humankind, as quickly the world would no longer be understood with just "common sense" simplicity, but would require a whole new appreciation of invisible forces and unseen powers.
