Map of the Territory of Alaska (Russian America) Ceded by Russia to the United States
Purchased in 1867 for the sum of 7.2 million, the vast territory was still a bit of a mystery purchase and was sometimes questioned. This map shows the basic grasp we had of the region, with a reasonable understanding of the coast and major rivers, but with an interior that was most speculative. Nicely hand colored.
