(Alabama/Mississippi) Mississippi Territory
The lands in western Georgia were sold to the United States in 1802 and came to form the Mississippi Territory and eventually Alabama and Mississippi. At this time Mississippi Territory included all of todays Mississippi and Alabama except that the coastal area was part of Florida which did not become part of the United States until 1819. This shows the region divided among the Indian tribes but "Georgia Company" appears very prominently and indicates settlement to come. A beautifully engraved map. Condition is good with some very light discoloration.
