(Antarctica) Southern Regions, Colton, 1855
A brilliant map for what was a hazardous frontier of the frozen south pole and its land mass. Here we see the tracks of numerous explorers including Ross, Cook, Biscoe, Kemp and Bellinghausen. What is compiled is a more rational look at the region with points of land being substantiated and area of pack ice being documented. Includes numerous place names, but shows only a fraction of the coast. Condition is very good with good margins. Image size is approximately 15.5 x 13 (inches)
