  • Silk-Flyers "Escape" Map
  • (WWII -Easteran Europe ) No. 4, Tyrol - No. 6, Balkans - AAF CLOTH MAP - MEDITERRANEAN SERIES.

This is what we put in the hands of flyers in WW II. As you had your mission in the Eastern Europe, this map was supplied to you in the terrible case that you went down and needed to make it to safety. With one side showing eastern Europe from above Nurnberg, east to Lublin in Poland, and south to the edge of Greece, the reverse side reaches from Czechoslovakia, southern Poland and Russia, down to central Greece. Printed on what can be called "balloon cloth", this dense cotton cloth, wouldn't have to be folded, and would be easy to conceal. The map itself is rich with information for towns, roads, railroads, hydrography and general terrain. Prominently states on the top "For use by War and Navy Department Agencies only Not for sale or distribution" .

Condition is good with some s
oiling. Image size is approximately 17 x 17
