Butterfield's Overland Route...
From territorial times this set of prints looks at branches of Butterfield's Overland Route. At the time it was the main conduit for getting the mail throughout the West, and this print looks at its stagecoach starting out in Atchison Kansas, the "first spike" being driven for the Atchison and Pikes Peak Railroad, as well as a classic image of several travelers on the plains taking a break and discussing in their own "Council of War".
