(CA. - Pacific Palisades) Pacific Palisades California on Santa Monica Bay, Anon.- Pacific Palisades Business Council, 1933 What had been a small coastal town on the edge of Los Angeles, with a growing movie studio, would in the 1920's become a home to a Methodist intellectual commune, where many of the major street names would be named after famous Methodist missionaries. By the 1930's many Jewish refugees fleeing the rising anti-semitism of Germany and Austria would begin to settle here. In time the growth and infrastructure of western Los Angeles would reach the town and help connect it and change it into one of the cherished neighborhoods of the city.
