(CA- thematic) Map of The United States As Californians See it, Oren Arnold, 1947
When you think of these types of hyperlocal maps, where distortion and bias are the rule for a different kind of accuracy, this is a fine example of what may be the second wave of such work. This approach gained popularity around this time and began to spread to just about every state and region. Here the Golden State encompasses the entire West coast and includes just about every great feature, whether it is really there or note ("Pike's Peak", "Grand Canyon", "Great Smokies", etc). A classic with very bright color. Condition is good with some old folds and mostly marginal repaired tears, with one on the left reaching about an inch into the image with very minor loss. Image size is approximately 16 x 20.25 (inches)
