  • (CO.-Denver) A P-38 Looks at Lowry Field, Colorado - A Cartoon Map Showing All Principal Buildings & Streets. Runways Have Been Omitted. - Army Air Forces Training Command - Compiled And Drawn By Cal. Geo. Grimes, c. 1942
The arrival of the air age had been welcomed in Denver, with numerous air fields along the front range, and some at the edges of developed Denver. As Denver Municipal Airport had been opened already, Lowry field in 1938 would take on a new life as a dedicated flight training facility and would turn out new pilots, for the P-38 and later the great B-29. This shows the streets and buildings, a handy reference for the soldier new to the base. Today the area just off 6th Avenue has been developed into one of the more desirable neighborhoods with close proximity to the downtown. Rare.
Condition of the map is good with some repairs to the old folds, but without loss. Size is approximately 8.5 x 13.25 (inches)
