(CO. - Frederick) Map of the Town of Frederick, Weld Co. Colo., Anon., 1907 Frederick is a town that is an artifact of a different era along the plains of the front range. Just twenty fives miles north of Denver, Frederick was part of the growing coal mining industry, now mostly forgotten, that spanned throughout the region (Dacono, Erie, Firestone, etc.). The town was originally layed out by three sisters, who owned the land, and named the town after their father, Frederick A. Clark, and it became the home to many immigrants that settled to work in the coal mine, especially from Italy and southern Europe. This fold out blue-print map is part of an "Abstract of Title" for Mr Godfrey, that bought his lot in town. This map shows the grid of the town (eight blocks by six blocks), with the "U.P.R.R." railroad running right next to Main street. This is the only map of the town that we've ever encountered, and illustrates the hopes and potential of a different era for this plains town. Condition is good with soiling throughout the document, and a small repaired opening tear to the map. Image size is approximately 8 x 8 (inches)
