(CO. - Ft. Collins) (untitled Ft. Collins), Anon., c. 1928
Our first encounter with this map for the town during a boom time. Oil was discovered out east of Wellington, and the sugar beet was still king, bringing in migrant workers from Mexico. It was also the era of sheep for Colorado and Larimer county was an important hub.
Ft Collins is shown here divided by its many neighborhood additions and developments, as well as the rail lines, parks around Sheldon Lake and of course the campus for what was still called the "Colorado Agricultural College". Well prior to so much of the growth and construction that has happened on the south end of the town that carries most of the towns population now, its interesting to see. This would also be the era of the bustling downtown main street (College Street) that Walt Disney would experience and try and recreate in his "Main Street, U.S.A." at his Disneyland.
