(CO. - Railroads) Map of the Denver And Rio Grande Railway and Connections.,Von Motz, c. 1872 The matter of railroads in the West was one more of politics and money, than practical engineering and the future of infrastructure. While Denver at this time was connected to the powerful "Union Pacific Railroad" through Cheyenne, there was a massive practical need for servicing the mining activity in the mountains, as well as the development along the front range. The DRG had, at this point, made it to Pueblo and Canon City, but had much great intentions on working into New Mexico, and being at the hub of all the new lines that were crossing the plains to reach Denver. This large rarity shows the majority of the neighboring states of Colorado and New Mexico with details for towns and rivers, as well as mining areas, the Spanish land grants, and the major roads. Condition is very good, with some very minor marginal tears. Image size is approximately 23.75 x 13.5 (inches).
