Southwestern Colorado - Durango/Silverton Narrow Gauge R.R. - San Juan Mountains - A Sixty Mile Wide Panorama
Bill C. Brown was a kind of successor to great Colorado mountain depictions by Hal Shelton, and while he maintained a similar approach, his color palette was a departure. While Hal worked on natural colors that could be exaggerated a bit, he still wanted land quality to register in the viewer as they would expect to see it in reality. Bill Brown took the colors to the next level with darker and more intense color to convey the drama of the region. Here his view from Placerville and Telluride all the way to Four Corners.
