(D.C.) The Washington D.C. View of the World, Kristoft, c. 1981
With rational and sensible geography all centered around the Capitol, stretching out to Lincoln Memorial and over to "K" Street, beyond the Potomac are the familiar names of the Potomac Beltway (and shows a "Beltway Bandito"), and then it descends into a mish-mash of locations. In the U.S. are some of the major cities and features (NY, Chicago, Rocky Mountains), and some notable events such as an erupted Mt. St. Helens, and what appears to be a military ship sinking off the coast of California (maybe the decommissioned destroyer the "U.S.S.John R. Craig" which was sunk off the California coast). Little appears on the horizon, save China, Japan and Russia, and the oil rich states of Saudi Arabia and the Arab Gulf States. It's clear this image was cropped to fit within this format as some letters are missing on the left side, but it appears to be the compromise of the publisher and not the error of the printer. Uncommon. Condition is very good, almost crisp. Overall image size is approximately 35 x 24 (images)
