He was the Mexican born artist that had an interest in ethnology and archaeology, and an innate skill as an artist. He moved to the U.S. and fell in with the key players in the Harlem Renaissance and was on the path to opportunity. He began doing illustrations for magazines and was in demand. This post-war image for Florida captures something of the diversity and character of the state, with a certain lightness and optimism. Condition is good with some minor repairs and edge dings, very minor edge loss. Overall size is approximately 20.75 x 13.75 (inches)
