Alain Mallet was a talented engineer and cartographer who served in several different king's courts, aside from his military experience. This proximity to the crown probably also afforded him insights into geography and frontiers of exploration of the time. In the 1680's he began a several volume project to illustrate and chart both the history and contemporary views of the world and something of its cultures.
Here, the span of Germany as it covered the vast portion of central Europe. Shows the major rivers and regions, as well as neighboring nations. Condition is fair with some old ink staining near the title, other very good. Image size is approximately 6.75 x 4.75 (inches)
