The impact of Captain Cook\'s explorations were vast at the time. They introduced new cultures, dismissed the existence of mythic continents, employeed the latest scientific methods, and laid the foundation for a new era of settlement and commerce. This print from the third and final expedition of Cook and his men was from a richly engraved French edition.
This print gives us a portrait of a man from Kamtchatka. Kamtchatka was located on the volcanic Kamtchatka Peninsula (780 miles) in Russian Far East.
