Leslie Allen Jones picked up his nickname "Buckethead" by the camera system that he devised that could use to take pictures while he was going down a river with heavy rapids. Nestled in a football helmet, he used these images along with the USGS quads that he had to make focused maps of major rivers and their rapids, throughout the West. His maps were long scrolls that documented the flow of the river, points of concern, placenames, tributaries and more.

Here is Buckethead's long map for the Salmon River in Idaho, and includes his notations for anyone running the river in kayak or small boat, a thorough key and guide at the end of the map explains his system for number rapids and admonition about being skilled enough to do it.

This scroll map appears to be printed on some type of accetate and has some chipping, wear and crumpling to the edges. These were issued to be water resistant.

Condition is very good. Image size is approximately 12 inches by 32+ feet rolled.
