Interieur D'une Habitation D'Hiver de Kamtchbatka.
The impact of Captain Cook's explorations were vast at the time. They introduced new cultures, dismissed the existence of mythic continents, employeed the latest scientific methods, and laid the foundation for a new era of settlement and commerce. This print from the third and final expedition of Cook and his men was from a richly engraved French edition.
This print gives us a glimpse of domestic life within the family's hogan. A bubbling pot is on the fire with a dog sniffing tantalizing aromas. The efficient hogan includes partial wooden floor, sleeping pallets with fur linens and storage for wood and other essentials. The open air chimney functions as chimney or air conditioning in the summer.
Condition is very good. Sheet size is 9.25 x 14.5 (inches).
