    A small map of the young state that is a favorite. Shows primitive early years of the state with a few dozen eastern counties that spread from the Mississippi River, while the vast majority of the state is unsettled and portions still labelled as "Sacs and Foxes". West of the counties, the only familiar name is "Ft. Des Moines".
