Tallis produced some to the most decorative maps issued in the 19th century. All have baroque vignettes and unique ornate borders. The map of Islands in the Indian Ocean is surrounded by five small vignettes relating to native life of the region including Madagascar, Point de Galle, Ceylon (Sri Lanka), Port Louis, Mauritius, North Beach, Prince of Wales Island, and the Fall of the River Roche, Isle of Bourbon.
Condition is very good with a close top margin. Image size is 10.75 inches x 13 inches with some outline color.
