Outstanding map of Rome showing the ancient and modern city. Homann drew this map from Giacomo de la Feuille's map of 1691, derived in turn from Giovanni Battista Falda's wall-map of 1676. A table at left identifies the principle churches, palaces and plazas in the fourteen districts of the city. The coats of arms of these districts appear lower right, and next to these is a small inset shows the seven hills of Ancient Rome. A text box along the right border gives a history and description of the city.

J.B.Homann was the leading German map publisher in the first quarter of the 18th century. His works remain extremely popular due to their large scale, extensive detail, and rich, illustrative style.
