From Honshu to the islands of Ryukyu, this nice folding map made on wonderfully soft and strong paper shows Japan, with a focus on the roads, towns along the way, as well as water routes to the different harbors and islands. Though the islands naturally curve, the cartographer has employed and interesting device to show that he has contorted the islands to straighten them out on the page. There are three compass roses at different sections of the map, all pointing north, but all at differing angles, correct for where they are located on the map. Condition is good with some wear, soiling and dampstaining.
