  • Johnson's Georgetown and the City of Washington The Capital of the United States of America.

The Johnson company was one of the better American mapmakers of the 19th century, and were known for keeping current with all the changes that were occurring. This is a fine example of their work with bold original hand color. This classic map of the city features three vignettes for The Capitol, The Smithsonian and the Washington Monument with its first proposed elaborate base. Good detail for streets and key buildings./P>
