Johnson's Minnesota and Dakota.
The Johnson company was one of the better American mapmakers of the 19th century, and were known for keeping current with all the changes that were occurring. This is a fine example of their work with bold original hand color. This classic map captures an interesting territorial period when the Dakotas were a single territory bounded by Minnesota and the Missouri River. West of the river is the expansive Nebraska territory. Counties are still developing throughout Minnesota as settlement continues. Shows good detail for towns and terrain.
