    A rare pictorial map for this Department of France, showing all the cities and towns, and a wealth of the region's history. From Charlemagne battling the Saracens, to Francois the first King of France, to Rochefoucauld the philosopher, many vignettes show the Charente's place in French history. A large vignettes pertains to Cognac the "Eau - De- Vie incomparable". Beautifully hand colored and signed by the artist.

    Condition is good with some soiling and wear, and is bisected and backed on canvas, once intended for hanging it has two gromets at top. Image size is 21 x 28.25 (inches).
