Exact Plan of General Gage's Lines on Boston Neck in America
General Thomas Gage was a British major-general who in 1774 became the new governor of Massachusetts and set about stabilizing the city by stationing troops about the town, an irritant to the colonists. This map shows the fortifications that Gage used to blockade the entrance into the city of Boston, showing the layout of the defense and numbers to identify specific weapon placement. An additional text sheet gives a key for the thirty noted placements. A rare map for the mounting events in the American revolution. A fine engraving.
