  • Map of Arizona prepared specially for R.J. Hinton's handbook of Arizona

A large and scarce map for the territory of Arizona, complete with its guidebook which is one of the earliest to address its mining regions, and includes a number of early images of Arizona cities. The map shows Arizona divided into six large counties along with a few Indian Reservations, and details the roads, towns, railroads (some proposed lines as well), and many different mining districts, and a few specific mines. Complete with its original text which includes numerous lithographed images of cities at the time (“Prescott”, “Tucson”, “Fort Yuma”) and numerous for the Grand Canyon and mining regions. There are numerous smaller maps related to specific mining districts, and a historical reproduction of a late 18th century Spanish map of the southwest, as well as Fr. Keno's map. The text itself explains Arizona, from its ancient ruins and native peoples, to geology, flora and fauna, as well as specific regions.

Condition of the test is very good, with a tight spine and very clean binding, and very good interior. The map has been professionally restored, backed with tissue with minimal loss on the folds, the corresponding text is in very good condition with a tight spine and very clean contents.. Image size is 35 x 24.5 (inches).
