A great promotional piece for the state meant to lure new settlers to this giant state and its near perfect climate. Produced by the Southern Pacific railroad, this map details the states, towns and rail lines, but most notabley it is color banded to show the average temperatures around the state. An inset to the right shows the comparative surface area, super imposing several other states into California (Ohio, Mass., New York & others), still with room to spare. A second inset shows the San Francisco Bay Area.
