A fine map for the growing metropolis of New York city and near vicinity. With hand color distinguishing ward within the city, we see a city rapidly developing, even showing the proposed filling of the eastern shore of Manhattan to extend streets and docks. Central Park is shown, but yet to be inspired and configured by Olmstead. Notes significant buildings throughout, as well as other city parks. An inset shows the northern reaches of the isle of Manhattan.

Condition is very good, with some light, and very marginal dampstaining. Image size 15.5 x 25 (inches).
