Military Map of the United States
Showing the entire nation from coast to coast and the military posts as they were, this map prepared by the Quartermaster General shows the early line of the “Extreme Line of outposts in 1845”. This early frontier line of forts spanned from the Gulf of Mexico and Ft. Jessup to Ft. Leavenworth in Kansas, up to Ft. Wilkins on Lake Superior, with many connecting points in between. Beyond this line lay the recent advances of the trails throughout the West as well as the forts and towns of the New Mexico territory, as well as those along the many rivers of the West. Condition is good with some browning to the folds, and a minor amount of loss on the left border..
