Alain Mallet was a talented engineer and cartographer who served in several different king's courts, aside from his military experience. This proximity to the crown probably also afforded him insights into geography and frontiers of exploration of the time. In the 1680's he began a several volume project to illustrate and chart both the history and contemporary views of the world and something of its cultures.
Here, a fine smaller map for all of North Africa, from Egypt to Morocco. Notes major cities and regional boundaries as well as something of the major terrain. Strong engraving. Condition is very good. Image size is approximately 7 x 4.25 (inches)
