North America

  • - N. America -U.S.
  • While the contours are familiar, the continent at this time was still rapidly changing as territories were explored. This map is abounding in interesting notations from the primitive territories "N. Mexico or Santa Fe" to the practical notations "Nijoras Indians", "Sandy Plain". The majority of the West is divided into a handful of simple territories (Oregon, Missouri Ter., Indian Ter., California). Prior to Gadsden purchase, the southwestern border is jagged, following the Gila River to the Rockies. Shows the Great Salt Lake as "Lake Ashley (Salt)". An interesting and decorative image.

Condition is good, though there are the expected issues. The once green hand color has browned with age, though not as severe as the picture conveys. Some repair on the right margin. Image size 16 x 13 (inches).
