(NY-NYC) A Pictorial Map Of New York The Wonder City, Hagstrom Co., c. 1950 An aged folding cover shows a bustling view of lower Manhattan, on the inside are two maps. On the left is the functional supplemental subway map of the metro NYC area. But on the right folds out the ever amazing map by Ernest Dudley Chase for "...New York City known as Manhattan also showing parts of the Bronx". It is the ornate, deco inspired design that Chase succeeded with in the 1930's and this folded version of the map is itself dated 1939 at the bottom. Dense with vignettes for key buildings, the map itself focuses on Manhattan and the Bronx, leaving Long Island and neighboring Jersey covered with fine illustrations for important sights. Condition is good with some light staining on the upper left vertical fold. Some light dampstaining to the covers. Images sizes are (Subway Map) 17 x 9.5 (inches) and (Chase map) 27.5 x 20 (inches)
