A great image from early American natural gas history. This is how they used to do it. Here we see numerous gents standing in a natural gas field amidst several wooden rigs with one worker lighting a gas pipe with what appears to be a roman candle. Taking aim to hit the open tail end of the pipe which extends from the ground.
Condition is very good, with some hand color. Image size is 15 x 9.25(inches).
