It was the photos of W.H. Jackson that captured the West during its early growth and did it very well. A series of prints produced by Harper's Weekly was the means to making W.H. Jackson's photos widely available through their woodblock engravings which faithfully translated Jackson's images. Here the early town of Ouray, just a decade or so after its incorporation.
