(Pacific Northwest) Map of Oregon Showing the location of Indian Tribes. 1852. Eastman, 1853 Here the vast Oregon Territory running from the Rockies to the Pacific coast, from the northern California border to the Canadian border. And this map describes what happens at the end of the Oregon Trail as it sweeps in from Ft Hall to Ft Boise, and into the towns along the Columbia River and neighboring mountains. Likewise shows the "California Trail" drawing settlers up from California into the region. Throughout the map are dozens of native peoples, some bounded in tracts, many not. And we see a building density of towns and places in what would be modern western Oregon. This is part of that foundational time that would spawn the land rights battles that we are still resolving today. A rare map that just shows native peoples, American settlers and their trails, rivers and major mountains ranges. Condition is very good. Image size is approximately 8.25 x 10.25 (inches)
