(South Asia - East Indies) India Orientalis, Cum Adjacentibus Insulis..., Seutter, c. 1730
A stunning engraving that offers great substance for the region as well as grand speculation about the partially understood frontiers. Covers a span from the eastern edge of Persia to the coasts of China and Japan, down to the East Indies, with a large hypothesized land bridge that reaches from New Guinea connecting to "Nova Hollandia" (Australia). A first edition of this map, it includes the attribution of Andreas Silbereisen as engraver. Condition is very good with close margins, especially on the sides. Image size is approximately 22.25 x 19 (inches)
