No. 48
A great map of the great regional border that separated the nations of the American Southwest. Referencing from the expeditions of Pike and Long, this map shows the Arkansas River drainage in detail with hand color distinguishing between the United States and Mexico. Across the plains are notations for native tribes, water sources and the route of Major Long along the front range and up to the base of James Peak (today's Pikes Peak). Shows the roads and missions around Santa Fe, and vicinity. Does wrestle with the situations of the many rivers of the Great Plains, with some reasonable distortion, but still showing progress. A great piece of Southwest Americana
