(Space) Jupiter III (Jupiter and moons), Mark Rickerson, 1980 It's been stated in many ways that science fiction supplies creative energy and imagination for what the future can become. Many artist's like Chesley Bonestell illustrated the ideas of Von Braun and the early NASA crews to build momentum and bring substance to what could be. Here, Rickerson does much the same as he delicately shows views of Jupiter and several of her key moons (we think IO, Ganymede and Europa) as if they were within reach. Set on a dark backdrop dotted by stars it's a vision that takes the viewer from a science fiction style into what could be science fact. Mark Rickerson did a series of space related paintings and prints that were made available through mail order sales, and worked right up to his death in 1983. Condition is very good. Issued on board.
