    A complete issue of "The Weekly Herald" for Octover 17, 1846 with a large woodblock map under the masthead. The Mexican-American war was underway after the US had forced Mexico's hand, and General Wool and Taylor plunged into Mexico via Monterey, Satillo and up to Monclova. The accompanying article gives the particulars of the forays along witha list of men killed and those wounded. Further in the issue a simple profile illustrates General Zachary Taylor, the "Hero of Fort Harrison, O-ke-cho-bee, Palo Alto..."

    Condition is good, consistent foxing, though the paper itself is firm and stable. Overall sheet size is 22.5 x 15.5 Map image size is 6.5 x 12.25 (inches).
