(Thematic - Colonialism) Colonial Problem, Sundberg - Sunday News, 1947
Just post WWII and this map identifies some of the major change that was underway, and this wasn't even all of it. Interesting to see how the text in the lower left states that "Colonial possessions, because of their economic and strategic value, have been a major cause of armed conflict in the past, and still are today.... France is having nothing but trouble in Indochina". An astonished map to show that there are apparently repercussions to the imperial drive that the U.S. and European nations had engaged in for a considerable time prior. The map notes the "Hindus & Moslems Moving Towards Independence" in India, "U.S. Granted Independence July 4, 1946" to the Philippines, "Britain Giving Independence To the Natives" of Burma, and on it goes. Condition is good with some aging and browning to the paper, still solid with bright color. Image size is approximately 14 x 20.5 (inches)
