It reads in the upper right: "THIS INFORMATION IS BEING MADE AVAILABLE WITH THE UNDERSTANDING THAT THERE ARE NO CLAIMS BEING MADE WITH REFERENCE TO THE PROPERTIES OR THE REPUTED MEDICINAL VALUE OF THE FOLLOWING HERBS EITHER IN COMBINATION OR ALONE AFTER MANY YEARS OF LITERARY RESEARCH THE INFORMATION SET FORTH HEREIN IS A CONDENSING OF HERBAL MANUALS"

While this large compendium of knowledge is "Dedicated to G-d", there were other great catalogs of knowledge that were being created at the time. Stewart Brand's "Whole Earth Catalog" sought to be the definitive general reference, providing the reader "With it, the user should know better what is worth getting and where and how to do the getting." But it wasn't just a grand catalog of the tools you needed to have a good life, it was also a summary of a world view and a foundation for a subculture.

In the same way, this chart can offer you a vast reference for help with "Ache & Pains" or an "Abscess", to "Vomitting" and "Worms", but with it's caveat at the top of the chart, it is clear that the creators weren't offering infallible reference, but an alternative that could help you get away from the standards of the culture, and press off toward your own frontier of health. And while the chart lists dozens and dozens of neatly specific targeted treatments, perhaps its one underlying foundation would really be the category of "placebo".
