Inspired by Beck's famous tube map of the London underground, here is another great work by Downs showing destinations that were available. In a pre-search engine world, it's important to remember that if you didn't know of a site's existence and address, it was unreachable. Thus, Downs' maps of the internet connected people to content and other online explorers in a way that wasn't available otherwise. This large graphic gives thematic regions of "Internet Software", "Resources", "Applications & Utilities", and "Entertainment & Games", which were all FREE! From email alternatives, to the latest WinZip, Midi archives to the Star Wars Homepage, there were world's to explore and utilize. This was yet another in a series of large graphics that Downs created to be included in the plastic poly bag that magazines were sold in, and was a creative way to distinguish their magazine from competitors.
