(Thematic - Mountain & River) A Comparative View Of The Principal Waterfalls, Islands, Lakes, Rivers And Mountains, In The Eastern Hemisphere, Tallis, c. 1851
An apex of sorts for the genre, done by the great publisher, Tallis, who always seems to have taken presentation into consideration. This beautiful chart shows waterfalls at top, the major islands and lakes, then rivers and Mountains. Above the highest mountain on the chart ("Dhwalagiri") is a small dot of a notation for a "Green" the famous British balloonist of the time who had experimented with coal gas as a power source, and is shown well above the other celebrated balloonist of the time "Guy Lussac". Condition is good with some marginal soiling. Image size is approximately 9.75 x 14 (inches)
