(Thematic) The Histomap Of Evolution Earth, Life, and Mankind For Ten Thousand Million Years -Arranged By John, B. Sparks, Rand McNally, 1947 In a world prior to the genetic understanding of relations, this is a well intended wrestling with patterns, structures and perceived complexity. Based on a line of evolution from "Amoeba to Man", things begin with Protozoa, Bacteria and Chlorophyllic Plants and rapidly grow to sponges, hydrozoa and ensegmented worms. It's a fast development that just inches away will already turn to reptiles. And not a few more inches away and the Age of Mammals begins. Amazingly the bottom of the chart is mostly dedicated to humans and their predecessors which dissolves into identifying ethnicities, ending with categories like "Chinese", "Japanese", "Russians" and even "United States of America". The rest of the animal kingdom is squeezed into a few thin columns on the far right. A fascinating anthro-centric take on all life forms. Condition is fair with small tears and pinholes at the top corners with small loss, otherwise the sheet is good, with bright color. Image size is approximately 57 x 21 (inches)
