It is the earliest expedition to reach up the Colorado River and investigate its unknown course in what was then Mexico. While the folding map does a great job in cover the situation of the
Mexican state of Sonora, Baja California and the Sea of Cortez, it also reaches into primitive Arizona. A notable rarity.

Condition is very good with some light sporadic foxing in the text. The folding map (13 x 17)is very good with some offsetting and a minor opening tear with old repair. Binding is tight and solid in tooled leather and some gilt decoration and titling on spine. Ex -Library information remains on the title page. Sabin 30357. pp. xiv, 540. Map and 7 plates.
