A map for the nation not long after the acquisition of the Louisiana Purchase, now spanning from coast to coast. Shows some impacts from the Lewis & Clark expedition, with articulation for the headwaters of the Missouri and Columbia rivers. For the states and territories along Mississippi river we see distortions and mis-aligned borders and vast lands covered by three or four territories which include placement for native tribes and practically no towns whatsoever. The Spanish empire still covers the Southwest, including Texas. And an unnamed lake somewhere in the rough area of present day Nevada is shown propelling a great river that empties into the northern portions of the San Francisco Bay.
Map is surrounded with a thorough history for the budding nation and all that it had gone through since the late 15th century up through rapid evolution of the late 18th and early 19th centuries.
Condition is good with some light staining, and marginal dampstaining and minor tears and loss. Image size is approximately 19.25 x 26 (inches)
