(U.S. & East) A Map of Florida and ye Great Lakes of Canada By Robt. Morden, Morden, 1688 A small but strong engraving for the lands from a basic Mississippi river to the Florida and the east coast. Notes the English colonies and their major towns, as well as the extended Florida territory that stretches across the south and includes numerous native cities and towns. The adjacent text presses the narrative that "Florida was first discovered by the English, under the Conduct of Sebastian Cabot, 1479". And on the verso, a portion of text reads, "The Air of Florida and Carolina is so temperate, that Men live to the Age of two hundred and fifty years, while the Children of five Generations are all alive at the same time". And the dramatized promotion doesn't stop there. Cumming W.P. (SE) #109. Condition is very good, with outline hand color. Image size with text is approximately 7.25 x 5 (inches)
