A time of expanding growth for the young country as the lands west of the Mississippi river become the frontiers of new settlement, all the way to the Pacific. While the great plains are shown as the "Great Desert", there are numerous rivers well noted and native land districts and were organized. Prior to Minnesota and Wisconsin, we se a long "North West Territory" stretching from Illinois up to the Canadian border. Texas is shown as a province within the vast neighboring Mexico. An inset shows the U.S. claims of the Oregon Territory, well in to British Columbia. Condition is very good. Overall size is approximately 18 x 23.25 (inches)
